Rape charges spark tension
01/08/08 Kingston police have charged the boys with sexually assaulting the girl in a boys restroom at the school about 3:30 p.m. Friday, after classes had ended. Two are charged with rape in addition to criminal sexual acts and one is charged with unlawful imprisonment. All of the charges are felonies.... The boys attend church... (one of them) is a Sunday school teacher who won the Kingston district's Martin Luther King academic award last year...And the charges were later reduced...
"An Ulster County grand jury on Thursday dismissed rape and other felony charges against the six Kingston High School students accused of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl last week in a school bathroom... the grand jury opted instead to lodge misdemeanor charges of sexual misconduct and unlawful imprisonment against the defendants."
